"A wonderful variety of quality grains, simple and fast to fix, making it an excellent base in which to add other foods to complement the diet, bagged in small amounts so I can carry it to shows. I am personally please with this product, and try to have all of my puppy buyers continue with the diet as well. I feed an all natural diet, and tell everyone to try if for 30 days -- then they can tell me what they see. The difference? Clean & bright eyes, whiter teeth, shinier coats, healthy skin, increased stamina & vitality, and an overall new beginning to your dog's health." -- Janis L. Myers, Casino Kennels, Champion Breeders of Dobermans
"I started feeding Sojourner Farms after one of my dogs died of cancer. I was advised by my local vet to do as the wolves do, and feed a raw, natural diet. I like that there's no preservatives, and only natural/raw ingredients. Sojourner Farms keeps my labs healthy. I bred a litter 6 months ago. The mother was on Sojourner Farms during gestation and the 8 puppies were born glistening. All of the buyers were very impressed by my breeding & nutrition objectives, and could see the care and TLC that was invested into them. Sojourner Farms was the key. The mother and the puppy I kept have a very bright disposition, pearly white teeth, and shiny, silky coats. No teeth cleaning bills for this happy hunter. Friends glance at my dogs and are amazed at their silky, black coats and white teeth. Thank you Sojourner Farms!! -- Reuben Pinske, Breeder of Labrador Retrievers
"Just a quick note to let you know how wonderful I think Sojourner Farms pet food has been for my animals. I have three cats, and they all go nuts for the food. Their coats are shiny and healthy, and they are more playful and spunky than ever. Often times, they will even try to climb into our fridge to get at their Sojos! One of my cats was a tray and could hardly muster up a "meow" when I first found her. How, with the promise of getting her Sojo's supper, she meows up a storm. I also enjoy my role in the process. Mixing up their food makes me feel closer to them and I feel that our bond has strengthened. I have recommended your product to many of my friends, and will continue to do so.Thanks and keep up the great work!" -- Sandra Cain, Minneapolis, MN
"About a year ago our golden retriever Sophie started having seizures. She was having about two a month, and even though we were reluctant to put her on the powerful medication needed to control them, our vet told us it was probably our only hope. Then we learned about Sojourner's. We had been feeding our dog a good grade of dry dog food, but we liked the sound of the human-quality ingredients in Sojourners. We decided to order a bag of Sojourner's and give it a try. We couldn't believe the results; Sophie immediately stopped having the seizures and hasn't had a problem since, and that was over six months ago. As the directions call for, we mix a little raw meat or vegetables with the food, and Sophie gobbles it up. It is such a relief to see our dog healthy and enjoying life again. She may have more medical problems in the future, but from now on, there's only one dog food good enough for our golden retriever, and that's Sojourner Farms." --Mark Heike, Green Bay, WI
"I've been feeding Sojourner's to my two 10-year old dogs, an airedale (Bailey) and a wire-haired fox terrier (Spike) for 11 months now, and the changes that have occurred in my dog's overall health, emotional well-being, and energy level over that time is absolutely astonishing, especially when you consider our dogs' medical histories. My husband and I tried all of the "premium dog foods" and sought frequent care, from a veterinarian dermatologist to a veterinary teaching hospital which had "state of the art" equipment, to try to deal with our medical problems. No matter what we tried, their medical problems persisted. Bailey suffered from itchy skin eruptions due to allergies for over 8 years. Spike, ever since the age of two, suffered from more severe medical problems, like cushing's disease, elevated liver enzymes, and impacted anal glands, to name a few. As recently as December 1996, just prior to us discovering Sojourner Farms, he was diagnosed with spleen and liver cancer and given only 3-6 months to live.Over the past year or so, I had been reading several articles regarding how widespread cancer and allergies were in dogs from all over the country. All of the articles were pointing to commercial dog food. What was being promoted as "premium dog food" actually contained contaminants, such as pesticides and other toxins, and any nutritional value was being cooked out of the food. I was convinced that the "premium pet food" we had been feeding our dogs over the years was a strong contributor to their chronic poor health. With Spike's cancer diagnosis, I decided to seek an alternative diet for them.It was at this time when my new holistic veterinarian told me about Sojourner Farms dog food. "They'll love it," he said, "just try it and see." I gave the dogs their first bowl of Sojourner's, and they ate it so quickly I barely saw them eat it! Within only a few months, the changes in their physical health became very evident. Bailey's skin problems started to clear up, and I stopped the allergy injections and cortisone treatments for him. Because of Spike's more severe medical problems, his progress was even more dramatic than Bailey's. For one thing, his anal glands have not becomes impacted since he started the Sojourner's diet; whereas before, being fed the commercial dog foods, his anal glands were becoming impacted every 3 months or so. His cushing's disease is under much better control, and he is no longer on any of the medication that made him so weak he could barely walk. What's more surprising and such a blessing is that he is still alive and doing very well 10 months beyond his cancer diagnosis! Whenever we go on walks, people think that Spike is just a puppy, because he has so much energy and looks so healthy. Not only is Sojourner's extremely healthy for the dogs, but they love the taste too. On the previous foods they didn't have much interest in eating. There were several times when one of them would walk up to their dog dish, step away, and go back to lie down. It was a constant struggle to keep them interested. It's quite a different story now. Each night, as I'm measuring out the food, Baily sits very attentively and watches my every move, while Spike is to the right of me leaping from a sitting position 2 feet straight up, until I give him his dish. That's what I call being excited about your dinner!Being that my husband and I both work full-time, we like Sojourner's because it takes very little time to prepare. We just soak the mixture in water overnight and it's ready for the next day. It's also quite economical, in that two cups of Sojourner's per day feeds both dogs, versus 3-4 cups per day of their previous food. The Sojourner's goes further, lasts longer, is more economical than the other dog foods, and is, by far much healthier for them. In the 10 months that I've been feeding this to my dogs, their whole demeanor has been different. They hold their heads up higher, their tails are more alert, they have much more energy, yet they have calmer dispositions. It's like all of their senses have been suddenly awakened, and they're now really enjoying life instead of just lying around the house. I am so thankful to have Sojourner's available to feed to my dogs. The results and changes I've seen in both of them has been incredible, if not miraculous. I know in my heart, I'd have a different story to tell had I not switched to Sojourner's. Sojourner's is, without a doubt, the best food I can feed my dogs, and I am truly grateful that it is available, economical and easy to prepare. A few minutes a day is all it takes to prepare Sojourner's, and the reward you get is having happy, healthy, dogs who love their natural diet! Thank you, Sojourner Farms!" -- Veronica Thouin, St. Paul, MN
"Just want you to know that our one cat with feline AIDS, who used to throw up two or three times a week, hasn't at all since he's been on SoJo's. The other cat was almost obese and waddled everywhere -- now she is happy, more active, and actually has a waist. The dog dives headfirst into his SoJo's bowl and doesn't come up 'til it's empty, and my parent's elderly dog is feeling fine and not shedding her coat as much now. I think your cat and dog food is wonderful. Thank you." -- Ann M. Daane, Atlanta, GA
"I've been meaning to write you before this but never got around to it. Your food has been a miracle for my dog Riley! He's a 13 1/2 year old Beardie who's always had stomach problems that got much worse in November 1999. He kept losing weight and nothing seemed to help! My vet suggested I give your food a try and I'm totally hooked! His stomach problems have disappeared and though he's still a little skinny his weight is stabilizing. Thanks so much." --Terry Amy and Riley, Chicago, IL
"Thank you very much. My two Boston Terriers are very allergic. This is the first thing to ever have come out of a bag that they can eat. Thank you for providing something that makes my life with two difficult little angels a little simpler (and for the piece of mind that comes with the quality). This is our second bag of Sojourner Farms, so we're relatively new to the product. I'm more than pleased with it, and the girls just love it. Every dog must love it if my two finicky girls dive into it. I alternate the protein source from beef to chicken to fish and add veggies (sweet potatoes, carrots, and broccoli are their favorites)." Many thanks from Hannah, Haley, & their Mom!" -- Kris Porto, Hudson, FL
"I am sending this letter to tell you just how much I love your product! I am a breeder/exhibitor of purebred American Staffordshire Terriers, and am currently feeding 8 of them (7 adults and 1 puppy). I have made the gradual switch over to a natural diet, and was told about your product by a Basenji breeder. She was sold on your product and after seeing her lovely animals, I know why! I have been "in" staffs for 17 years, and have always played the "feed of the month" game. My dogs would get tired of the same old, same old, and I was beginning to feel like I was just throwing food at them. The care and preparation it takes to switch over to a natural feed is well worth the time and effort. I had tried others, and am SOLD on your product. Stools are firmer, and less in quantity, coats are shiny, eyes are bright, and dogs just seem happier! Dogs that used to be just ho-hum about dinner time, now dance and prance for their meal. My 8 year old daughter helps at feeding time, and she loves the fact that we get to spend the quality preparation time together. We discuss things like: making better, healthier eating choices, and the fact that artificial things we put into our bodies, can actually be harmful to us in the long run. She is taking a great interest in your product, she pours it into the soaking pan, and mixes it with water. All the while claiming it is "easier than most people would think to eat healthy." Well, anyway, just wanted to say THANKS for making such a wonderful, healthy product . . . keep up the good work!" -- Lydia Castgana, Breeder of American Staffordshire Terriers
"My dogs all (5 of them) love your food! I bought my first bag about three weeks ago, and we're nearly out of it now. They eat your food mixed with ground lamb, beef, or chicken and a small amount of veggies or fruit, with the kind of gusto I've never see them use on anything else. In addition to your mix, they get raw meaty bones at the second meal each day. It's too early to see a difference in coats yet, but they all appear to be visibly happier dogs with more energy and a lot more interest in their everyday goings on. Three of the dogs show (standard wirehaired dachshunds) and two are humane society-rescued spaniel mixes that are close to 10 years old. When I look at their enthusiasm, there's no comparison to their old food! They'll chose Sojourner Farms every time. My dachshunds not only do the show circuit (a high-stress way for a dog to make a living), they also actively compete in AKC Earthdog tests and Field Trials every chance we get. The fact that these guys love your food, hold their weight well now, appear to have well-functioning intestinal tracts once again, and are showing new (positive) behaviors like being more outwardly focused and obviously happy with their lives, have all occurred since moving them to the combination of your food with ground meat and raw veggies, and a second meal of meaty bones each day. I'm delighted with the results! And please, raise prices if you have to rather than adjusting your formula as time goes by! You have a winner with Sojourner Farms. Obviously I'm pleased to have discovered you." (A side note from the owner . . . not to worry, there are no plans to raise prices anytime soon.) -- Helen Connor, Beaverton, OR
"I have the leanest, longest (but healthy) German Sherpherd EVER. This guy is 2 years old & never, NOT ONCE enjoyed his dinner. I kid you not. I tried everything. Dry, wet, semi-wet, cooked for him . . . everything. The FIRST time I put a bit of Sojourner down, he enjoyed eating. It's only been a week I've been converting him, but I'm SO hopefully. He could be your poster boy. Other people say their pup is finicky, but I promise you this one wanted to see the menu! Thank you for your product." -- Nancy James, Cambria, CA
“We have a five month old Golden Retriever puppy, Max, that we have put on Sojourner Farms dog food since he was about seven weeks old. He absolutely loves his dinner as it takes him approximately 40 seconds to inhale it once we put his dish in front of him. His coat is sleek and shiny and he has boundless energy. We really appreciate that he is getting such a well balanced diet without all the fillers etc. that are found in a lot of commercial dog foods. We would highly recommend this product for anyone who is concerned with feeding a premium product that greatly enhances the health and overall well being of his (or her) devoted companion.” -- Keith & Kathy Chavie (and Max)
“I’d like to tell you the story of Odyssey -- an elderly toy poodle that belonged to my Mom, before she passed away in February 1997. When I took him into my home I noticed he coughed a lot, and had very bad breath. I took him to my vet who told me Odyssey had a serious heart problem. He prescribed drugs and a special dry pet food. We also had his teeth cleaned and he gave me a daily tooth gel to deal with his breath. For a while the coughing got better, but then it began to become worse again. The doctor doubled his prescription, but said there wasn’t anything else that could be done. The coughing continued to worsen, as did his bad breath. At that point I read the ingredients on the food, and couldn’t see how it could be helping. That’s when I learned about Sojourner Farms. After having all of my questions answered on the phone, I ordered a bag. He transitioned very easily, and within a short time some dramatic changes occurred. His breath cleared up, and his coughing decreased markedly. Best of all, Odyssey now seems quite a bit more alert and active. Whereas before he was pretty indifferent about his food, now he literally dances around excitedly at feeding time. Odyssey and I can’t thank you enough! I believe that not only will your food help him to live longer, but it has already greatly improved the quality of his life. (And for those of us who no longer have to deal with his breath, it’s improved the quality of our lives too!)” -- Mary Fredricks and Odyssey |
